Chemspire LLC is the culmination of a dream that founder Terry Mahon imagined more than 15 years ago. Terry’s initial foray into the cosmetic ingredients business was with Dragoco where he was the first cosmetic ingredients employee when it decided to expand beyond flavors and fragrances. At the time, Dragoco was unknown outside of fragrances and flavors. With a very limited cosmetic ingredients portfolio, Dragoco’s ingredients business grew rapidly. During this period and without the benefits of the technologies existing today, Terry and his small team built a sizeable stable of clients and tripled its sales within five years.

Following the merger of Dragoco and Haarman & Reiner in 2003, Terry was promoted to President of Symrise’s Cosmetic Ingredients Division. He held that position for over 12 years and single-handedly built Symrise’s cosmetics program into a leader in the North American cosmetic ingredients market.

Terry’s experience in the chemical industry is substantial. Prior to Symrise, Terry worked for over 10 years with the large chemical/pharmaceutical firm, Merck KgaA. In addition to two years spent in Germany on a management exchange program where he earned a secondary degree, he traveled within the many diverse industries where Merck was active. The deep knowledge of chemicals used in the food, confection, nutritional, pharmaceutical, electronic, biopharmaceutical, and laboratories provided Terry with a unique perspective of the applications of chemicals in all these industries.

Although he enjoyed helping build very successful cosmetics businesses, Terry’s real passion is selling. Working with large and small customers, identifying opportunities and bringing solutions that bring benefits to his customers is the real driver of his life. Today, Terry has returned to his “roots” and creating Chemspire has enabled him to regain the entrepreneurial spirit that drove him and Symrise to the success it enjoys today.

The over 30 years of dedicated selling, marketing and management knowledge is now being deployed to the service of customers in the United States and Canada.
